World’s First Humanoid Robot Fighting Championship to Take Place in China

The first ever tournament for fighting full-size humanoid robots will be held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, which is located in the Guangdong province in the southeast of the country.

The tournament marks an important stage in the development of robotics and artificial intelligence. It aims to stimulate innovation in industry and expand the possibilities of robotic applications. The main goal of the competition is to evaluate the physical capabilities and intellectual abilities of robots in dynamic combat scenarios. This requires them to imitate human movements and make decisions in real time.

EngineAI, the tournament organizer, will present various models of anthropomorphic robots with open software. Participants will be able to customize and further train their robots according to individual needs.

EngineAI co-founder Yao Aiwen told reporters that one of the goals of the tournament is to create stronger, more agile and smarter robots. The company aims to leverage the rich robotics ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and integrate sports with AI technology to achieve breakthroughs in key areas such as robot perception, decision-making and command execution.

Both competitions reflect China’s growing robotics industry. According to the Zhejiang government, Hangzhou is home to more than 200 robotics-related companies, with a robot production value of 15 billion yuan in 2024.
