Twitter Suspends @ElonJet Account That Tracked Elon Musk’s Private Jet

Twitter has suspended the @ElonJet account, whose author tracked the flights of the social network owner Elon Musk using bots programmed to search for the movements of private jets.

Elon Musk announced his intention to sue the user Jack Sweeney, who followed the movements of his private jet. The businessman announced this on his Twitter account. Musk explained the need for a lawsuit by saying that the distribution of information about the whereabouts could harm his loved ones.

This account has been maintained since 2020 by University of Central Florida student Jack Sweeney.

According to the publication, in 2021, the future owner of Twitter offered Sweeney to delete the account for five thousand dollars. He made a counter offer to delete the account for 50 thousand dollars. The deal did not go through then, but Musk subsequently repeatedly tried to contact Sweeney and get his account deleted.

After acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk said in November of this year that his commitment to free speech is so strong that he will not block an account that monitors his plane, although this “poses a direct risk to his personal safety.”

But after that he announced a change in the account blocking policy.
