TeamGroup Releases SSD With Physical Red Self-Destruct Button

TeamGroup has announced the T-Create Expert P35S portable solid-state drive, equipped with a forced self-destruct feature. The device not only software-wipes all data but also physically disables the controller and memory chips, making any data recovery impossible. This SSD is designed for emergency situations requiring the immediate destruction of particularly sensitive data.
The device will be available in four capacity options: 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB. The company has not announced a price or release date.
The device’s body contains a switch for initiating the data destruction process. To prevent accidental activation, a two-stage system is implemented: the first stage activates standby mode (triggered by gently moving the switch), and the second stage initiates the data destruction process (requiring significant force). Once activated, the data destruction process begins regardless of the computer connection and is irreversible.
TeamGroup states that after the process is complete, no recoverable data remains on the drive. The device is designed for professionals working with information that requires enhanced security.
TeamGroup emphasizes that activating the self-destruct mechanism voids the warranty, as it causes irreversible damage to the device. Pricing and availability information for the drive have not yet been released.
