TCL has unveiled the Tab 8 NxtPaper 5G tablet, featuring an 8.7-inch display powered by its proprietary NxtPaper technology, which enables the display of images in full-color “e-paper” format.
The display is 8.7 inches with a resolution of 800 x 1340 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and special modes like “Colored Paper” or “Ink” that help adapt the display to different tasks. At the same time, the device remains versatile: unlike e-readers with an e-ink display, you can turn on vibrant colors, play games, or watch videos in high quality. Performance is provided by an eight-core processor with a frequency of up to 2.4 GHz, paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded using a memory card slot. The built-in 6,000 mAh battery, according to the manufacturer, can last up to 16 hours without recharging. For photos and videos, the main 8 MP camera and the front 5 MP camera are suitable for calls and selfies. Other key features include 5G support, dual speakers for stereo sound, and noise-canceling microphones for a more enjoyable online meeting and call experience. The device runs on Android 15.

The TCL Tab 8 NxtPaper 5G is currently available exclusively to Verizon subscribers in the US for $199.99, but should be widely available by the end of the year.
