On November 11th, Rue Valley, a story-driven isometric role-playing game inspired by the cult detective series Disco Elysium and the comedy film Groundhog Day, was released on PC and consoles.
It has just over 80 reviews on Steam, 89% of which are positive. Gamers praise the game’s deep atmosphere, pleasant graphics, excellent music, and engaging storyline. However, they note that comparing Rue Valley to Disco Elysium is simply too much. These games are too different in their narrative and overall tone.
Of course, there are some negative reviews. Among its downsides, players highlight poor optimization, which sometimes causes the FPS to drop to critically low levels. Other notable downsides include unresponsive interactions with objects and a lack of animation.
The game was developed by the Serbian team Emotion Spark Studio with support from publisher Owlcat Games. Leading up to its release, the Rue Valley team consulted with key developers from Disco Elysium.
