According to Michael Nicolls, SpaceX’s vice president of Starlink development, the median download speed on the Starlink network has increased from 160 Mbps to 220 Mbps since January of this year. He also added that the July update significantly improved upload speeds.
Thus, the average Starlink download speed has risen from 150 Mbps in January to over 200 Mbps. Median upload speeds have increased similarly: from 20 Mbps in early 2025 to over 30 Mbps today.
During peak hours, many users report significantly higher internet download speeds—300 Mbps, and sometimes even 400 Mbps.
By October 21, SpaceX had launched 134 Starlink satellites on its Falcon rocket—more than in all of last year combined. With the most recent launch, the company delivered the 10,000th internet satellite into low-Earth orbit. Thanks to the unprecedented launch rate, the newest Starlink V2 mini-satellites now make up over 50% of the total constellation, contributing to increased download and upload speeds.
SpaceX is now positioning itself not only as a provider for remote and hard-to-reach regions—the company is becoming a full-fledged competitor in the broadband internet services segment.
