About 10 days ago, Sony suspended sales of the flagship smartphone Xperia 1 VII due to technical problems and criticism from users: they complained that the smartphone turned off on its own, rebooted, and in some cases did not turn on. Sony conducted an investigation and established the cause of the device malfunctions.

The investigation revealed that the manufacturing process may have caused a PCB failure in a limited number of Xperia 1 VII units, potentially causing power issues. The manufacturing process was immediately adjusted to ensure that this does not happen again. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers.” All Xperia 1 VII users are advised to check the IMEI number of their device on the company’s dedicated portal. If the smartphone is found to be defective, Sony will provide further instructions on how to apply for a replacement. The company also reminds users to back up their data before sending the device.

Let us recall that the premiere of Sony Xperia 1 VII took place on May 14. The smartphone, built on Snapdragon 8 Elite, equipped with a 5000 mAh battery and an improved camera, was priced at 1,500 euros.
