Samsung Refrigerators Can Now Recognize Family Members by Voice

Samsung’s latest smart refrigerators now support family voice recognition via its proprietary AI assistant Bixby. It can be used to deliver personalized information on built-in smart displays based on which family member is speaking.

Thanks to the new feature, the refrigerator can display a personal calendar, photos or activate custom display modes by voice command. For example, you can ask the refrigerator to show your daily schedule or photos from your family archive. Also, users will be able to use a voice request to turn on the alarm on their smartphone, which is especially convenient if the phone is difficult to find.

This feature is particularly useful for visually impaired users: the refrigerator will automatically change the display settings on the screen, for example, turn on color inversion or grayscale mode, if these settings are active on the paired smartphone.

Voice recognition and a new way to summon Bixby will come in an update for Samsung Bespoke AI refrigerators with Family Hub starting with 2025 models, and will roll out to devices with smaller AI Home displays later.
