Chinese company Eyou Robot Technology has launched the world’s first fully automated production line for articulated joints for humanoid robots. The new Shanghai factory is capable of producing up to 100,000 such joints per year, according to the South China Morning Post.

Ideally, robots should make entire robots, especially as demand for such products grows. Automation of related industries is also crucial to achieving this goal. Chinese company Eyou Robot Technology announced that it has launched the world’s first fully automated production of “joints” for humanoid robots at its Shanghai facility. The newest production facility was officially opened last Wednesday and is already capable of producing 100,000 joints for humanoid robot arms annually, with plans to triple that output.

Founded in 2018, this Chinese company supplies these components to many local manufacturers of humanoid robots, including AgiBot. Eyou began mass production of components in 2023, and last year, its shipments exceeded 95,000 units. Expanding production will help reduce the cost of humanoid robots, and eliminating humans from the production process will not only improve productivity and product quality but also make them cheaper. Robots can operate around the clock and only require regular maintenance, unlike human workers who need rest breaks and urination.

Overcoming the anatomical limitations of the human hand: the robot can firmly grasp an object between any two “fingers”, and its “fingers” can press the object against both the inside and outside of the “palm”.
