Meta to Allocate $60-65 Billion for AI Development in 2025
Meta Platforms plans to allocate $60-65 billion for capital expenditures in 2025. These funds will be used mainly for the construction of data centers and servers, as well as for a “significant” expansion of the team of AI specialists, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on his Facebook account.
The company will use some of the funds to build a data center that Zuckerberg said would be “so big it could cover a significant portion of Manhattan.” Meta plans to have about 1 GW of computing power online in 2025 and is projected to end the year with more than 1.3 million GPUs, he added.
Given that Meta spent between $35 billion and $40 billion in capital expenditures last year, that represents a significant increase in spending, DataCenter Dynamics noted. By comparison, Microsoft has said it will spend $80 billion on data center AI this year.
