Meta Has Opened A New AI Translator For 200 Languages
Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his personal Facebook blog that Meta has opened access to an artificial intelligence-based program that can translate text into 200 languages at once.
The multilingual model has over 50 billion parameters and was trained using the Research SuperCluster supercomputer. Advances in this area will enable more than 25 billion transfers per day across the company’s apps, Zuckerberg wrote. The model is already being tested in a project that helps Wikipedia editors translate articles into other languages. It is noteworthy that in this model, the emphasis was on little-known languages, the support of which is not available in most modern translation tools.
The AI model has become part of the large-scale research project Meta. And they are already betting on it in terms of development in the areas of not only social networks, but also virtual and augmented reality technologies. That is, with this tool, the company will not only better understand its users, but will also be able to improve the quality of AR/VR projects.
