iOS 18 To Offer Just Beta Version Of AI

In the latest edition of Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg newsletter, he reports that Apple’s long-awaited artificial intelligence features for iOS 18 and other operating systems may be released with a “beta” or “preview” designation.

According to the information, the company has chosen a hybrid approach to AI integration. One part of the tasks will be processed locally on devices, and the other part on the company’s cloud servers. For each request, the system itself will determine where it is best to fulfill it. It is noted that local data processing will only be available on new Apple devices, including the latest generation iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Specific functions that AI will be able to perform include summarizing conversations from text messages, transcribing audio notes, editing photos, automatically replying to messages, and generating emojis on the fly. Safari and Spotlight will also receive updates related to generative artificial intelligence.

iOS 18 will also separately include a chatbot powered by OpenAI ChatGPT technology. It seems Sam Altman may even appear during the WWDC video to announce the partnership.
