Huawei Released Over 100 Million Smartphones Without Android
Chinese company Huawei has released more than 100 million smartphones based on its own operating system HarmonyOS since its launch in 2019. By the end of 2024, Huawei has shipped 103 million smartphones with HarmonyOS, and in the last year alone, 46 million devices based on this software platform were released.
These figures highlight Huawei’s strong presence in its home market of China, where HarmonyOS has become a key element of the company’s software ecosystem.
Canalys analysts also note that Huawei has already shipped 21 million tablets running HarmonyOS, with 10.5 million sold in 2024.
HarmonyOS was first introduced in 2019 and was widely deployed on consumer devices by mid-2021. Since then, it has become the default platform for much of Huawei’s product lineup. HarmonyOS is now used not only in smartphones and tablets, but also in wearables, TVs, smart home devices, and PCs.
As for Huawei’s future plans, the company is preparing to release the next version of HarmonyOS later this year.
