Elon Musk’s AI Company xAI To Build A Supercomputer

US entrepreneur, engineer and billionaire Elon Musk recently told investors that his artificial intelligence startup xAI Corp. plans to create a supercomputer. It will be designed to work with the next version of the company’s proprietary AI chatbot, Grok.

According to available data, xAI plans to use Nvidia H100 accelerators in its supercomputer. Exactly how many accelerators the developers intend to use to create a new supercomputer is not specified. It is known that the resources of 20 thousand H100 accelerators were used to train the Grok 2 language model. Previously, Musk stated that training the next generation algorithm would require 100 thousand accelerators.

Today, NVIDIA H100 accelerators are the market leader in data center chips used in AI, but due to high demand, purchasing them is a challenge

The report said Musk plans to have the supercomputer operational by next fall. He also added that xAI may collaborate with Oracle on this project. Official representatives of xAI and Oracle have not yet commented on this issue.
