Elon Musk Announces The Launch Of His New Project xAI
The head of Tesla and SpaceX and the owner of Twitter announced the start of a new company xAI, which will deal with artificial intelligence technologies. The xAI website states the main goal of the project is to “understand the true nature of the universe.” Elon Musk made the announcement in his own style, briefly outlining the company’s aspirations towards “understanding reality,” without any explanation.
In addition, Dan Hendrix, director of the Center for AI Safety, is advising the new company. This group considers too rapid development of artificial intelligence dangerous. In May of this year, she published an open letter in which she compared artificial intelligence to a pandemic and nuclear war, saying that AI could one day cause the extinction of humanity.
According to the project website, xAI is a separate company, but will work closely with X Corp., Tesla, and others to make progress on their mission. It is also indicated that the startup is actively recruiting experienced engineers and researchers. The site states that the xAI team will answer questions from users during a Twitter Spaces broadcast on Friday, July 14.
