Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Coming To Xbox Series X And S In 2023
Baldur’s Gate 3 is confirmed to release on Xbox this year after its release date was uncertain due to split-screen issues in the Series S version of the game.
Larian head Sven Vincke confirms that Series S will not feature split-screen co-op in the game, which seems like a compromise that needed to be found to get the game ready for launch this year.
In February, the head of Larian, Swen Vincke, reported that the Xbox Series S had problems with split-screen performance, while there were no such troubles on the Xbox Series X.
Due to Microsoft’s policy on the parity of game functions on X and S, one of the two consoles of local co-op cannot be deprived, and Larian could not throw all her efforts into solving problems due to limited resources.
Microsoft engineers were involved in the optimization process, Larian was preparing to make some “compromises” and hoped for the release of the Xbox versions in 2023, but things were going to be postponed to 2024.
According to Vincke, after a recent productive conversation with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, they were able to find a solution that would allow Baldur’s Gate 3 to be released on Xbox Series X and S before the end of 2023.
