Last week, it became known that the Asus ROG gaming laptop community had identified the cause of their malfunctions. The manufacturer didn’t keep quiet, stating that it had independently identified the cause of the issues and would soon begin releasing BIOS updates that would resolve the issues.

ASUS plans to release BIOS updates for all affected ROG laptop models in stages. The first update is scheduled for early October.

ASUS has confirmed that using beta BIOS versions for ROG laptops will not void the warranty.

This decision follows months of reports pointing to the ACPI firmware code in the BIOS as the root cause of interrupts. Analysis by community members revealed that inefficient instructions were being passed to the Windows ACPI.sys driver, leading to long interrupt latencies and uneven CPU usage.

Beta BIOS firmware versions are generally recommended to be installed with extreme caution, as they are not as polished as final versions and may cause some issues. However, in this case, some users may decide it’s worth the risk, and Asus has promised to honor all existing warranties for them.
