Apple Watch Became A Favorite Tool For Doctors For Primary Diagnostics
Apple Watch has become a favorite tool for primary heart diagnostics among doctors. According to the WSJ, 85 US research centers are participating in Apple’s experimental project, including the National Institutes of Health. Their goal is to understand whether smartwatches can actually prevent the serious consequences of heart disease.
Some American doctors recommend that patients purchase at least a budget model of the Apple Watch SE – it allows you to send data collected by the smart watch directly to the attending physician, helping him to constantly monitor the patient’s condition and medications. A notification from Apple Watch about heart rhythm abnormalities sometimes turns out to be a reason for a visit to the clinic.
Doctors choose the Apple Watch because of the device’s simplicity, affordability, and ubiquitous presence—Apple shipped 40 million units of the smartwatch last year alone. The recommendation to wear an Apple Watch is not rejected by patients themselves, who often ignore doctors’ advice, refusing to take medications or do physical exercise. This gives rise to ever new large-scale research to identify new purposes for using the device.
WSJ experts believe that work should continue with the participation of Apple, doctors and researchers. Further studies are needed on the capabilities of smart watches and their integration with an automatic human health assessment system.
