Instagram Users Couldn’t Skip Ads
Instagram is testing advertisements that cannot be skipped, but only need to be viewed for a few seconds. A similar function, for example, is available on the YouTube platform.
The innovation was noticed by one of the Reddit users – continuous advertising in test mode appears when viewing the publication feed and the Stories section. Having scrolled the content to a certain area, the Instagram user ends up with an advertisement that cannot be scrolled further until it ends. The screen displays a “Commercial Break” mark with a countdown timer that indicates when you can continue scrolling through the content.
By clicking on the icon for more information about this feature, the user was presented with a message that read: “Ad breaks – a new way to view ads on Instagram. Sometimes you may need to see an ad [to the end] before you can continue watching.”
Subsequently, a representative of the company Meta, which owns Instagram, confirmed to reporters that the platform began testing ads that cannot be scrolled for a short period of time.
