Motorola has launched the Moto Tag 2 in select European countries – a compact tracker that attaches to easily lost items and connects to Google’s Find Hub network on Android devices.

The main difference between the new model and its predecessor is the integration of UWB ultra-wideband technology, which complements Bluetooth 6.0. This combination of technologies enables tag location with greater accuracy. The tracker transmits direction and distance data to a smartphone, simplifying indoor searches.

The manufacturer claims a battery life of up to 600 days on a CR2032 battery. The first generation Moto Tag lasted about a year on a similar battery. The tracker’s body is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.

The Moto Tag 2 operates on the Google Find Hub network, which is available to Android devices. Location data transmission within this ecosystem is encrypted. A button on the tracker’s body can be used to trigger an audible alarm on a paired phone or as a remote camera shutter release.

Instead of the usual black and white, the tracker is available in green and orange. The body features a built-in button that can be used to call a connected smartphone or even trigger the camera shutter remotely. The recommended retail price is €40.
