$128,000 Jetson One Flying Electric Motorcycle Launched
The Swedish company Jetson AB has introduced the first serial flying electric motorcycle or even flying buggy — the Jetson One model in the form of a frame quadcopter. The device is available for order. To place an order, you will have to make a non-refundable deposit of $8,000. The total cost of the personal air vehicle is $128,000.
Jetson One was modeled after the crash cage in racing cars and is extremely compact. Thanks to its aluminum and carbon fiber construction, the device is quite light – it weighs about 86 kg. It can fly for up to 20 minutes on a single charge, reach speeds of up to 100 km / h, and can hover, bank, and even move in reverse. The device has a lidar for navigation and obstacle avoidance, a stabilization function in the event of a rotor failure, and an automatic landing if something happens to the pilot.
In honor of the release of the first production model, the manufacturer released a 10-minute video of the flight of the Jetson One.
Vertical takeoff and landing aircraft like the Jetson One are unlikely to become a mass-market means of transportation in the coming years. The device is more likely to be used for recreational activities than for everyday use.
