Xiaomi Started Distributing YU7 to Customers
Today, the first Xiaomi YU7 electric cars were officially handed over to their owners. The company’s CEO Lei Jun personally participated in the ceremony, took photos with each client and presented flowers.
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun spent the weekend participating in the distribution of the first YU7 crossovers to Chinese customers. The size of the first batch is not specified, but unofficial sources say that it was limited to literally 400 or 500 units. For the opportunity to receive them in such a short time, buyers had to make a deposit of $2,790 when placing an order, and also accept the fact that they would not have the freedom to choose the configuration. The founder of Xiaomi willingly posed with the first owners of the crossover and asked them to share the reasons that prompted them to choose the new model of this brand. As specified, half of the first buyers of the YU7 crossover turned out to be enthusiasts interested in high-speed electric cars. The second half was less sophisticated in the characteristics of the car and focused on convenience, a variety of options and the design of the new product. Among the latter, there were many families with children. By the way, in the first three days YU7 collected about 300,000 confirmed orders, and now the rarest configurations of the car have to wait up to 62 weeks – that is, about 14 months.
The Xiaomi YU7 went on sale on June 26 at a price of 25.35–32.99 million yuan. The car is available in three trim levels and is equipped with a panoramic display, laser radar, adjustable suspension, and electric rear seats. Rutab.net
