Xbox Live Gold Will Turn Into Game Pass Core in September
After years of rumors and speculation, Microsoft is officially ending its Xbox Live Gold subscription and replacing it with a Game Pass tier called Xbox Game Pass Core. Rumors of a possible drop from Xbox Live Gold have been around since the introduction of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and its multiplayer support. Now it has finally happened.
On September 14, Xbox Live Gold will become Xbox Game Pass Core. This is a new plan that costs $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. This price is the same as the Live Gold price, and for it users will receive an online multiplayer game and a small selection of games from Game Pass. On September 1st, Microsoft will end its Games With Gold free-to-play program.
The Game Pass Core will include 25 games, the list will be updated several times a year.
For $1 more, buyers will get a Game Pass for consoles with modern games developed by Microsoft on the first day of release and hundreds of other games. This might give some thought to console owners who don’t want to pay $16.99 a month for Game Pass Ultimate.
Game Pass Core is focused primarily on consoles, while PC Game Pass is more interesting on computers. They are the same price, but the PC version contains hundreds of games.
