“World of Warcraft Classic” Gets Hardcore Worlds on Test Servers

World of Warcraft recently made an official announcement confirming Hardcore realms for Classic Era WoW. These highly loaded permadeate servers will be a real challenge for World of Warcraft Classic players.

In May, World of Warcraft Classic developer Aggrend appeared on the Hardcore Allstars Classic WoW stream to officially announce the upcoming support for official single-life realms. Details were sparse, but Aggrend at least gave us an idea of what the future holds.

To ensure permanent character death, players who die in the new hardcore zones will not be able to return to their corpses to respawn. Players will also not be able to be resurrected using spells or items. Dead characters will be able to stay in the game, but will not be able to take part in the actual gameplay.

According to Blizzard, all hardcore worlds will be PvE. PvP will be available, but only for those players who want to enable it. The new zones will also feature a new Death Duel feature, allowing players to face each other in high-stakes 1v1 duels that can result in one of the characters being permanently killed.
