During a recent meeting between the CEOs of Salesforce and Tesla, they came across a prototype of a next-generation humanoid robot called Optimus, which relies on the Grok chatbot, developed by Elon Musk’s xAI, for its communication capabilities.

During his visit to Tesla headquarters, Marc Benioff filmed a short video in which he communicates with the humanoid robot Optimus.

A video of the demonstration posted on social media site X shows the new prototype able to answer questions and perform basic robotic actions, indicating that the development is still in its early stages but already shows significant progress compared to previous versions.

The updated Optimus has a gold-plated body, which is a noticeable cosmetic change compared to previous models. However, the most significant improvements concern the design of the robot’s hands. According to Musk, “the next-generation Optimus hand has actuators located on the forearm, like a human hand, and controls the fingers with cables, similar to a human hand.” Despite the visible improvements, some experts note that the hands on the prototype shown do not look functional enough and resemble the hands of a mannequin.
