SpaceX Completed Its 90th Successful Space Launch This Year
SpaceX carried out its 90th successful space launch this year on December 7. As part of today’s launch, another batch of Starlink Internet satellites was sent into low Earth orbit using a Falcon 9 rocket.
The Falcon 9 launch vehicle with 23 Starlink satellites took off from the Cape to Canaveral in Florida at 00:07 US East Coast time. The rocket’s first stage made a controlled descent, landing vertically on an unmanned SpaceX barge in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida about 8.5 minutes after launch. It is noteworthy that this was the ninth launch and landing for this first stage of the launch vehicle.
SpaceX continues to set its own records for the frequency of space launches. If last year the company carried out 61 space launches, then this year their number has already reached 90, and there will be more by the end of the year. SpaceX says it expects to conduct 144 space launches in 2024.
