Sony Finally Releases PlayStation VR2 On Store Shelves

Since its launch in late February, PSVR 2 has been sold exclusively through Sony’s own retail division, PlayStation Direct, but the PS5 VR headset will soon be available from other retailers.

The news was confirmed on Twitter with the official PlayStation account saying that “PlayStation VR2 will be in stock soon at local retailers.”

The kit is modest: two PS VR2 Sense controllers, the helmet itself, headphones, a Type-C cable for charging and data transfer.  There is a more expensive version, it includes the main exclusive – “Horizon: Call of the Mountains”.

The included earplugs with a short wire plug into a standard 3.5mm port on the helmet shell, and there is a special groove in the earpiece for the cable. These headphones are enough for games, but you can always connect any others: they can be easily detached. In addition, wireless headphones can also be used with the VR2 by connecting them to the PS5 via Bluetooth via a wireless adapter.

The PlayStation VR2 has two OLED displays with a resolution of 2000 × 2040 pixels each – higher than a TV with a Full HD resolution. Most other helmets have regular LCD screens with the same or lower resolution.

OLED matrix is the best option for VR glasses.  Such screens provide maximum contrast ratio, spectacular color reproduction in HDR and perfectly deep blacks.
