NetEase Announced The Purchase Of Quantic Dream

Earlier in 2022, Chinese giant NetEase opened its first studio in the US. Now the company’s eyes are on Europe. The corporation announced the purchase of the French Quantic Dream, a studio that creates interactive cinema. For example, Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain.

In 2019, NetEase first invested in Quantic Dream and has now bought 100% of the studio’s shares, according to VentureBeat.

As studio founder and game designer David Cage explained, over the past 25 years, Quantic Dream has repeatedly raised the issue of merging the studio with major publishers, but all the options available at that time did not imply the ability for developers to create completely independently of the parent company. It was only recently that Quantic Dream began to receive offers that “meet its expectations” and agreed to a deal with NetEase.

David Cage believes that this is the right time, given the trend in the industry for mergers and acquisitions. Under the wing of a publisher who can support the studio financially, Quantic Dream doesn’t have to worry about its future.

Quantic Dream, under the wing of NetEase, will continue to create and publish its own games on all platforms with the help of the Chinese company’s extensive capabilities, as well as support third-party developers.

Quantic Dream is currently busy developing Star Wars Eclipse.
