Midea Unveils Six-Armed Robot Miro U

China’s Midea Group unveiled the Miro U, an anthropomorphic robot with six arms and a wheeled stand at the Greater Bay Area Economic Forum. It will be used in industrial automation by the end of the month.

Despite all this, the developers consider Miro U a humanoid robot, albeit a “super” one. Their vision is for such a robot to overcome the limitations of human physiology and offer increased manipulation efficiency. Specifically, thanks to two additional pairs of upper limbs, it can simultaneously perform more operations, supporting loads with its lower pair. Meanwhile, the wheeled base allows the robot to rotate 360 degrees in tight spaces.

For now, the robot will only be deployed at one of Midea Group’s washing machine manufacturing facilities. The company expects the launch of Miro U to increase production efficiency by approximately 30%.
