Microsoft Starts Forcing Windows 11 to Update to 24H2 Version

Microsoft has begun the forced rollout of the latest 24H2 update for Windows 11. It will be installed without fail, in the background, and without the option to opt out.

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 has entered the final phase of its rollout.

As with Windows 11 23H2 or 22H2 in the past, “the final phase is when a Windows 11 feature update is declared ‘fully ready’ and set to automatically download,” Windows Latest explained. Microsoft said this applies to devices running Windows 11 Home and Pro versions 23H2, 22H2, and 21H2 — all of which will automatically receive the update to 24H2.

Microsoft will give users the option to delay the update, but not cancel it.

Therefore, it is recommended to allow the update to download and install on your PC unless there is a compelling reason not to do so.

The Windows 24H2 update turned out to be one of the most problematic in Microsoft history. Released at the end of 2024, it contains both a ton of new features and a ton of bugs that break the system in the most unexpected places.
