Microsoft Brakes Ubisoft Games With Latest Major Windows 11 Update

Microsoft has announced that it is pausing the rollout of the Windows 11 24H2 update for PCs with Ubisoft games installed. The changes to the operating system are causing crashes, freezes, or sound issues in a number of titles from the French publisher.

In an official statement released yesterday evening, Microsoft confirmed the compatibility issue: “Some Ubisoft games may stop responding on devices running Windows 11 version 24H2.” The company said it is working with Ubisoft to resolve the issue and strongly discourages manual installation of the 24H2 update at this time.

According to the information available, users may experience serious issues with a number of Ubisoft games after installing the update. The most common complaints include freezing at launch, loading, or during gameplay. In some cases, the screen may go black. The list of affected games includes:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Microsoft has blocked the Windows 11 24H2 update on devices with Ubisoft games installed until a final fix is released. The corporation also asked users not to update the OS manually until the problem is resolved.
