MediaTek has officially unveiled the Dimensity 8500 mobile processor, featuring exclusively high-performance Cortex-A725 cores. The chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm N4P process technology.
The new SoC has eight processor cores. Interestingly, they’re all identical. These are three Cortex-A725 clusters in a 1+3+4 configuration with different frequencies: from 2.2 to 3.4 GHz. The total L3 cache is 6 MB, and there’s also 5 MB of SLC cache.
The Mali-G720 MC8 core handles graphics. This is one of the main differences from the Dimensity 8450 platform, which has the same CPU but one fewer GPU core.
The platform also features a MediaTek NPU 880, LPDDR5X-9600 support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and a modem with data transfer rates of up to 5.17 Gbps.
The company doesn’t specify the manufacturing process, but it’s likely the same 4 nm as the Dimensity 8450.

The Dimensity 8500 boasts a suite of AI-enabled image processing tools, including the AI Ultra-Clear Telephoto Algorithm, semantic segmentation, and AI-powered reflection and glare removal. It also supports cinematic-quality 4K HDR video recording, zero shutter lag, and all-pixel phase-detection autofocus.
