iPhone 16 Becomes World’s Best-Selling Smartphone in Q1 2025

The analytical agency Counterpoint Research shared a quarterly study of the smartphone market. According to their information, the top best-selling smartphones in the world, as in recent years, are mainly occupied by models from Apple.

Apple took five places in the top 10 in the global ranking of the best-selling smartphones. As in previous years, this is the best result among all manufacturers. The iPhone 16 sold especially well in Japan and the Middle East and Africa. In Japan, the growth was driven by an improving economic situation and a revision of subsidies, which made Apple even more attractive to local buyers. The iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro models took second and third places, but their sales slowed in China due to government support for devices under 6,000 yuan ($833) and competition with Huawei. Nevertheless, the Pro versions accounted for almost half of all iPhone sales. The iPhone 15 took fourth place in the top, and the new iPhone 16e, which replaced the SE, rose to sixth place in the ranking in March, despite its higher price compared to its predecessor.

Counterpoint Research analysts note that despite geopolitical risks and trade restrictions, the top 10 best-selling smartphones will retain their positions. Large companies are betting on flagship models with unique features, which will continue to attract the attention of buyers.
