Gran Turismo Sophy AI coming to Gran Turismo 7
Over the past year Sony AI and Polyphony Digital have been working on the GT Sophy, and today the GT Sophy will be coming to Gran Turismo 7 as part of the 1.29 update, at least for a limited time. Until the end of March, players can try their hand at Sophy in the GT Sophy Race Together mode in a series of races of increasing difficulty.
Race Together is a limited-time competition (available until the end of March) where players can compete against Gran Turismo Sophy. GT Sophy is an AI driver created from a collaboration between Sony AI, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital. The Race Together challenge lets you compete against GT Sophy drivers in races of varying difficulty on four different tracks, or take on GT Sophy one-on-one. During the race, GT Sophy will also communicate with the player using emoji.
“Unlike conventional built-in artificial intelligence, GT Sophy continuously controls the car in a variety of situations, allowing users to enjoy the thrill of hand-to-hand combat as if they were playing against a professional racer. This is an important evolution even compared to in terms of the history of racing games. We will continue to develop GT Sophy to realize our Race Together concept, where we intend to provide players with a fun opponent to compete against and learn from,” said Yamauchi, the president of digital polyphony.
In addition, Gran Turismo 7 will receive full support for virtual reality. PlayStation VR2 owners will be able to experience the full game and experience VR beyond split screen.
