Google announced a test launch of real-time translation in Google Translate—the new feature will be powered by Gemini. The company promises that this translation will be available for “any” headphones.
The service supports over 70 languages, including Russian, and will begin beta testing for users in the US, Mexico, and India. The feature will be available in the iOS version of the app in 2026.
At the same time, Google has implemented an improved text translation engine based on the capabilities of the Gemini AI model. According to the company, the new system is capable of more accurately translating complex structures such as idioms and slang expressions, which are often used figuratively.

The third significant change was the expansion of geographic and language support for the “Training” feature, a built-in language learning tool.
Duolingo-style language learning tools are now available in 20 new countries, including Germany, India, Sweden, and Taiwan.
