Facebook Begins Testing NFTs With Select Creators In The USA
Following the debut of NFT support on Instagram in May, Meta launched support for digital collectibles on Facebook with select creators.
The company has begun a slow rollout that allows a select group of creators in the United States to post digital collectibles to Facebook. With this feature, these creators will be able to showcase NFTs on their profiles in a new tab, and the art will be tagged “digital collectibles” – just like on Instagram.
The official launch comes a week after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company would soon start testing NFT support on Facebook. At the time, Zuckerberg said the test would allow creators to cross-post to Instagram and Facebook. However, the spokesperson said that the sharing feature on both platforms has yet to be rolled out, but is coming soon.
Zuckerberg also said that Meta is going to be working on augmented reality NFTs, or 3D NFTs, that you can use in Instagram Stories using Spark AR, which is the company’s AR software platform. Last week, Meta expanded its Instagram NFT test to allow more creators from around the world to display their NFTs on Instagram. Prior to the expansion, support was only available to select authors in the US.
