Devices With Wi-Fi 8 Showed At CES 2026

Just a few years after the debut of Wi-Fi 7, the first Wi-Fi 8 devices—routers and chips from Asus, Broadcom, and MediaTek—were unveiled at CES 2026. Wi-Fi 8-ready offerings are expected to hit the market this year.

Unlike previous updates, which focused on speed, the new Wi-Fi 8 standard prioritizes connection stability, power efficiency, and device coordination. While the already high speeds of Wi-Fi 7 remain relevant, the goal is to improve device-to-device communication, maintain performance over distance, and ensure streaming and gaming sessions with minimal latency and signal dropouts.

The final version of the official IEEE 802.11bn specification, as Wi-Fi 8 is also known, will not be approved until 2028, but chip and router manufacturers are already preparing production products based on the preliminary version of the standard—such equipment could go on sale as early as this year. Asus attracted attention with the unusual design of its ROG NeoCore router concept—the device resembles a 20-sided dice with a hollow base and lacks external antennas. The router, according to the manufacturer, supports Wi-Fi 7 speeds, but offers higher throughput and lower latency—it’s capable of transmitting larger amounts of data simultaneously with fewer bottlenecks.

Wi-Fi 8 with data transfer rates of up to 23 Gbps was first tested in October 2025, as reported by TP-Link at the time.
