Chrome Continues to Outpace Other Browsers in Terms of User Numbers

According to Statcounter statistics for August 2025, Google’s Chrome browser continues to outpace its competitors in terms of user numbers, with a 70.25% share in the personal computer segment. Microsoft Edge is a distant second (11.8%), followed by Safari (6.34%), Firefox (4.94%) and Opera (2.06%).
The gap between Chrome and its closest competitor, Microsoft Edge, remains huge, with the latter’s share falling from 13.78% to 11.8% over the year. Apple’s Safari follows with 6.34% (9.4% a year earlier), Firefox with 4.94% (6.65%), and Opera with 2.06% (2.43%).
A similar situation has unfolded in the mobile market. Chrome holds 69.15% of the market, with Safari and Samsung Internet in second and third place with 20.32% and 3.33%. Google dominates all browser segments. The market is experiencing an influx of AI-powered apps as developers try to retain users and attract new audiences. Microsoft is pushing Copilot Mode in Edge, while Google is introducing Gemini and various AI features in Chrome.
Experts also note the widespread use of AI functions in mobile browsers. Google is actively promoting its Gemini AI model in Chrome, Microsoft — Copilot in Edge. Even Mozilla, which has always defended privacy and openness, has begun to implement AI solutions, which not all users liked.
