Apple To Turn Siri Into A Fully-Fledged AI Chatbot

Apple will transform its Siri voice assistant into a chatbot similar to ChatGPT and unveil an updated version as part of iOS 27 at the WWDC developer conference in June 2026, TechCrunch reported, citing Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
The new Campos will replace the current Siri interface and will be deeply integrated into iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Users will be able to invoke it in the familiar way—by voice or by pressing a button. Its main difference from the current Siri is its ability to engage in meaningful conversations, understand context, and perform complex tasks. The chatbot will be able to search for information online, create text and images, analyze downloaded files, and control device functions and apps (for example, making calls, editing photos with voice commands, or writing emails).
Before the major update, an interim version of Siri will be released in iOS 26.4. It will feature some improvements, such as on-screen content analysis and improved web search, but will lack the chat interface.
Apple is lagging behind in the race for leadership in artificial intelligence and has repeatedly delayed the release of a more advanced version of Siri. Last year, it actively sought a partner, testing technologies from OpenAI and Anthropic. Ultimately, Google’s Gemini was chosen, announced in early January.
