Apple to Remove “Notch” from MacBook Pro Screen with OLED Switch in 2026

Apple is preparing for significant changes in the design of its laptops. Information has appeared online that future MacBook Pros will not only switch from mini-LED to OLED displays, but will also get rid of the familiar “bangs” for users, giving way to a compact camera.

According to the insider, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will receive OLED displays in 2026. At the same time, the company will replace the notch with a cutout at the top of the display, similar to the Dynamic Island. It is unclear whether Apple will add software features for this island, but it will house a light sensor and a FaceTime camera.

The new hole-punch approach is rumored to make the screen more usable, as the menus will no longer interfere with the notch. It is also speculated that Apple may introduce a Dynamic Island feature to the MacBook Pro, similar to the design already used in the iPhone, which allows current activity such as voice recording, AirDrop connection, or navigation to be displayed. However, the exact details of this solution have not yet been revealed.
