Apple is preparing a significant update to its MacBook Pro lineup, introducing a touchscreen to models with OLED displays. According to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass production of these devices will begin next year.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who first reported this possibility back in 2023, also confirmed the company’s plans. Since then, the touchscreen MacBook launch date has been pushed back from late 2025 to sometime between late 2026 and early 2027.

While Apple previously avoided the idea of merging the iPad and MacBook lines, the market situation is forcing the company to reconsider its position. As The Verge reports, citing Gurman, iPad sales have begun to decline, and users increasingly expect touchscreen interfaces on laptops, especially given the many modern Windows devices equipped with touchscreens.

The new MacBook Pro promises not only a touchscreen but also a number of other changes. The laptop is expected to feature a thinner chassis and a smaller camera cutout, creating a sleeker design. These updates could address the needs of users who want the power of a MacBook with the intuitive touch controls of an iPad.
