Apple announced the new iPhone 17, 17 AIR, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max – Specs and price

Apple has introduced its new iPhone 17 lineup, which includes four models.

iPhone 17

The standard model, iPhone 17, largely retains the familiar design but comes with a slightly larger 6.3-inch display. The screen now supports ProMotion with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and reaches a peak brightness of 3000 nits. It is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 glass, up to 3x more durable than before, with a special anti-glare coating.

The camera system has been upgraded with a 48MP main Fusion sensor and a 12MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom. The front camera is completely new: an 18MP Center Stage sensor with a larger square format, enabling both horizontal and vertical shots without rotating the phone.

Configurations & Prices:

  • 256GB – $799
  • 512GB – $999

iPhone 17 Air

The iPhone 17 Air is the biggest innovation in Apple’s portfolio this year. It stands out with an ultra-thin 5.6mm design, a titanium frame, and Ceramic Shield on both the front and back. Despite its slim profile, Apple assures that durability remains uncompromised. It comes in four muted colors. The display is 6.5 inches with ProMotion and 3000 nits peak brightness.

Performance is handled by the more powerful Apple A19 Pro chip, claimed to be the fastest mobile processor to date. It offers a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU with next-generation caching systems. Connectivity is improved thanks to the new Apple N1 chip and C1X modem, which is twice as fast as its predecessor.

The main camera is a new 48MP sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), doubling as a 2x telephoto lens and enhanced with machine learning for better images. The front camera is the same 18MP sensor as the standard model but gains Dual-caption video, allowing simultaneous recording from front and rear cameras. Importantly, this model supports only eSIM.

Configurations & Prices:

  • 256GB – $999
  • 512GB – $1199
  • 1TB – $1399

iPhone 17 Pro

The iPhone 17 Pro introduces a radically new Unibody design, made from anodized aluminum. The only glass section on the back surrounds the MagSafe ring, greatly improving durability. For the first time in an iPhone, a Vapor Chamber cooling system is integrated, aided by the metal body, to ensure optimal performance during heavy use such as gaming. Available in three colors.

Apple claims performance is up to 40% higher compared to the iPhone 16 Pro. The new chip also brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing for gamers.

The camera system takes a huge leap with a triple setup, each sensor being 48MP Fusion. The long-awaited 48MP telephoto camera offers two levels of optical zoom: 4x and 8x (at 8x resolution drops to 12MP), enhanced by Photonic Engine. Video capabilities expand with ProRes RAW support, in addition to 4K 120fps and ProRes. The front camera remains the same 18MP sensor as other models.

Configurations & Prices:

  • 256GB – $1199
  • 512GB – $1299
  • 1TB – $1499

iPhone 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro Max carries the same hardware as the Pro model but with a larger 6.9-inch SuperRetina XDR display, also featuring ProMotion and 3000 nits peak brightness.

iPhone 17 Pro Max

It is powered by the same A19 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU, and a 16-core NPU.

Battery life is improved significantly, with Apple claiming up to 39 hours of video playback, compared to 33 hours on the Pro model.

Configurations & Prices:

  • 256GB – $1199
  • 512GB – $1399
  • 1TB – $1599
  • 2TB – $1999
