DeepSeek Reaches 20 Million Active Users
The artificial intelligence model of the Chinese developer DeepSeek became the second most popular AI development after ChatGPT, having gained an audience of active users of 22.15 million people per day by January 31, that is, in 20 days since its launch.
The DeepSeek app, launched on January 11, had already reached 22.15 million daily active users by January 31. This is 41.6% of the ChatGPT audience, which during the same period had 53.23 million daily users. Previously, Doubao was the leader in the Chinese market with 17 million users, but DeepSeek managed to overtake it in popularity. DeepSeek’s success is also reflected in the Apple App Store rankings, where the app rose to first place in 157 countries, including the United States. In addition, according to SimilarWeb, the DeepSeek website overtook Google Gemini in terms of traffic in just a week. Thus, as of January 31, DeepSeek was visited by 2.4 million users from the United States, while for Gemini this figure was 1.5 million.
A number of countries, however, have imposed restrictions on the Chinese neural network, citing security concerns. And DeepSeek developers have recently warned about the possible spread of misinformation about their chatbot.
