Scientists Named A Drink That Slows Down Aging And Improves Memory
Preserving cognitive functions is a priority task for scientists. Thus, a group of researchers from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, has found a new positive property of everyone’s favorite drink – talking about coffee.
Scientists conducted an experiment on mice. They gave the animals trigonelline for 30 days. The mice showed improvements in cognitive functions of the brain already in the first weeks. Rodents demonstrated a significant increase in memory ability in the Morris maze.
“Gene ontology analysis showed that a wide range of biological processes, including neurodevelopment, mitochondrial function, synthesis of several signaling pathways associated with inflammation, autophagy and neurotransmitter release, were significantly improved in the experimental mice,” the study description says.
However, obtaining trigonelline is not so difficult. This alkaloid is found in coffee. So don’t give up your favorite drink. Just a cup in the morning will help improve memory and attention.
