Flying taxi service To Be Available At The 2024 Olympic Games In Paris
Many companies have spent several years pursuing the long-held dream of flying cars—the industry still faces many challenges, but its development has accelerated significantly in 2023. Some players are preparing to begin commercial flying taxi services in 2024 and 2025. The cost and safety of such services are still questionable, but the technology promises to significantly save travel time.
Volocopter could become one of the first companies to launch a service with wide coverage if its planned service in Paris is ready in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The company is developing several routes between Versailles and airports around Paris
Since receiving approval for the plan, Volocopter has successfully flown electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL) aircraft in Florida, New York and Osaka. Tests prove that flying taxis can operate in large cities and international airports.
Another promising company specializing in flying taxis is Joby Aviation. Most recently, with NASA’s help, it completed an air traffic control simulation and began making plans to create runways across Japan.
It is also known that Joby Aviation intends to launch air taxi services in New York as early as 2025.
