German Bionic Unveils Its Lightest Powered Exosuit At CES 2023

According to German Bionic, the new Cray X model is the first exoskeleton of its kind to support two areas of the body. The system not only protects the lower back, but also offers active walking support, allowing workers to move quickly through large warehouses without fatigue while maintaining a set schedule. And a set of “smart” features in the software helps to quickly adapt to the exoskeleton and optimize the work of the entire enterprise even more efficiently, according to the company.

«The fifth generation of Cray X is the first exoskeleton of its kind to support two parts of the body. It works by gently pushing the legs forward when it is necessary to move the load from point A to point B.» – German Bionic.

The new Cray X model retains the carbon fiber frame, IoT functionality, and smart manufacturing integration of its predecessor, but unlike the old model, features a more powerful 40V battery to keep the user powered for longer. In addition, hot-swap batteries are now supported, which means that a dead battery can be quickly replaced without turning off the device, which means without stopping the production process.

In addition to lumbar protection, the new model provides active walking assistance – workers will be able to lift and carry loads weighing up to 30 kg.

A help system for new users is built into the design, which displays tips and instructions on the built-in monitor for safe and quick mastering of the device.

AI is the foundation for the continuous development of exoskeletons and human enhancement. The Bionic exoskeleton cloud platform is a unique solution for the industry. It provides the data we need to advance machine learning, develop AI applications, and improve our research that takes technology to the next level,” added Norma Steller, Head of IoT at German Bionic.
