Garry Kasparov: “AI does not replace us, it advances us!”

Garry Kasparov, world chess champion and artificial intelligence expert, gives a public lecture in Barcelona.

During his session, “The Link Between Human Creativity and Machine Intelligence,” Kasparov addressed an audience of more than 2,000 people, urging them to “not be afraid of machines” and declaring that “if we use them incorrectly, we cannot blame technology.”

In 1997, Kasparov was set to play a series of chess games against Deep Blue, a supercomputer developed by IBM, in a contest that kept my entire world on edge. Kasparov had played chess with machines before, but there was no opponent: “At that time, the machines were weak and my hair was strong,” he said.

After this experience, Kasparov began to delve into the world of AI, and later left a comment that “we should not think of ourselves as machines.” “The key is balance: over time, we can do much more if we balance ourselves, because our abilities will help us use our human creativity,” he says.

Talent Arena confirms its role as a benchmark in the digital field, further establishing Barcelona as a global hub for technological innovation. The event brought together key players in the industry, including developers, companies and institutions, promoting collaboration and the development of new strategies for the future of digital talent.
