Fortnite Has Become An Olympic eSports Discipline
In 2023, the first-ever virtual Olympic Games will be held, where athletes will compete in digital disciplines. Fortnite has officially joined them.
Sports shooting has become the tenth discipline of OES 2023. It should be noted that this year the list includes such sports as chess, dancing and cycling.
Tournament participants will not have to compete in the royal battle. Specially for OES 2023, Fortnite will create a special island where esports players will be tested for accuracy, just like in sports shooting competitions.
12 players from the Fortnite Champion Series will be able to face off in Fortnite at OES 2023. How exactly the participants will be selected is not specified – the next championship will end only in October.
The Olympic eSports series has already included nine games that approximate real-world sports played by international federations. These include Just Dance, Gran Turismo racing, Zwift cycling and even web chess.
