Disney Requires Reddit and Google to Disclose the Identity of the User Who Leaked the Script for the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”

In January 2023, a month before the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a link to a 63-page document with a transcript of the film’s dialogue appeared on the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit. It was published by the MSSmods account, which is shared by the moderators of this community. Some time later, the link was removed, but by that time the archive with the document had already spread over the network, and the leak itself was called one of the largest.

Disney didn’t seem to like it too much, as the company filed a DMCA and sued representatives from Reddit and Google. They are required to reveal the identity of the author of the leak.

The problem is that the leak was posted from the MSSmods account, which is shared by all moderators of the subreddit. As a result, Disney may receive the “names, phone numbers and IP addresses” of several people at once who were not involved in the publication of the script.

Reddit commented on the situation as follows:

“Reddit is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. We have strict processes in place to assess legal requests and object, if necessary.”
