Tesla Delivered The First 12 Cybertrucks To Customers
Yesterday, the first Tesla Cybertruck customers finally received their cars. They’ve been very patient: Tesla first announced the futuristic electric pickup truck in 2019, then delayed deliveries all these years due to design and manufacturing issues.
Twelve lucky winners solemnly received their cars live at a special event. Tesla said it has more than a million pre-orders for the electric truck and plans to produce 200,000 units per year.
The price of the rear-wheel drive version starts at $60.9 thousand, which is a third more expensive than the original price announced in 2019 – $39.9 thousand. This model travels about 400 km on a single charge and accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. But the rear-wheel drive Cybertruck won’t be available until 2025.
The all-wheel drive Vesria will go on sale in 2024. It will be presented in versions with two and three electric motors. The first will cost $79.9 thousand, the second will cost $99.9 thousand.
The Cybertruck will be fully produced at the Austin plant starting in 2024.
